ICE! At Gaylord National Resort

WASHINGTON (JCHAYWARD.COM) –ICE! is back at the Gaylord National Resort with a fun new theme featuring DreamWorks’  Shrek The Halls, for its fourth straight year, as part of Christmas on the Potomac.

Gaylord National Resort’s Amie Gorrell along with Gingy the Gingerbread man and Shrek joined 9News’ JC Hayward to discuss the magical experience Gaylord National provides for the whole family to enjoy.

It took forty carvers and thirty days to create this hand-made magical masterpiece, which brings the lovable and well-known characters from DreamWorks’ movie and TV special to life using two million pounds of colorful ice. This walk-through indoor frozen attraction runs from November 16, 2012 through January 6, 2012.

“ICE! is a must-see holiday treat for the whole family to enjoy. It’s a unique and amazing attraction unlike anything else in the region and features a new theme every year. Now in its third year, people have made it a family tradition and we couldn’t be happier,” explained Gaylord National Resort’s Amie Gorrell.

The event first takes you on an interactive journey to see how Ice! was created, and then because of its Dreamworks partnership, a clip of the animated TV special, “Shrek The Halls”  will be shown in a theater style space familiarizing the guest with the characters, and the storyline providing a background for the whole Ice! experience.

Ice! features Shrek’s best friend, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Princess Fiona, and a 40-foot-long Pink Dragon as well as a Nativity Scene; five thrilling ice slides that reach two-stories in height, photo opportunities, and a Christmas gift shop.

To stay warm inside, guests are provided oversized blue winter coats and are advised to wear closed toe shoes and no heels.  It does get chilly so make sure you wear warm clothing, a scarf, and gloves. Since its 9 degrees inside the ICE! bubble, gloves are absolutely necessary.
