Youtube has changed how we measure popularity, and now has made reflection of the past year easy with a recently released list of the Top Trending Videos of 2012.

Youtube trends manager, Kevin Allocca, made the list of the Top Trending Videos of 2012, which had a huge impact on the world. Allocca compiled this list by amount of views, shares, searches, parodies, remixes and responses to said videos.

1. PSY- Gangnam Style: This record-breaking music video from Korean Rapper Psy is expected to hit a billion views by the end of 2012.

2.  Walk off  the Earth: Put Five people on one guitar to cover Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ and achieve Youtube gold.

3.KONY 2012: In one day, over 30 million people watched the 30-minute video that went viral about Joseph Kony, the leader of Uganda’s Lord’s Resistance Army.

4. Call Me Maybe cover by Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez & Carlos Pena: Over 55 million views.

5. Epic Rap Battle: Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney: Over 45 million views.

6. Dramatic Surprise: An ad for TNT  brought drama to a Belgium town. Over 39 million views.
