WASHINGTON (JCHAYWARD.COM) — Women senators made history on Thursday as the 113th Congress was sworn in.
The number of women senators increased to 20, and four women were sworn in for the first time including Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, who became the first Asian-American woman in the body.
The House has 81 women, 61 of them Democrats and The Senate includes 20 women.
