WASHINGTON (JCHAYWARD.COM) — Picture this, you’ve packed your bags and ready to fly off on a fabulous vacation abroad with your favorite person for some much needed R & R. When you get to the airport, you’re stopped at the gate because your passport is about to expire in a few months.
Don’t let this happen to you.
WUSA 9 Call For Action Director Shirley Rooker is here with some important information you need to know about the true expiration of your passport.
While not all countries have this requirement, a good rule of thumb is to make sure your passport is within these limits. So you might say your passport is valid for 10 years.
It is only valid for 9 years and 6 months or less! In fact, the U.S. Department of State suggests that you renew your passport 9 months before its expiration date. To check entry requirements by country go to:www.us-passport-service-guide.com <http://www.us-passport-service-guide.com> — the foreign entry requirement page.
If you don’t meet the country’s rules you may be denied access to the plane.
