Go Red For Women: Annual Luncheon & Fashion Show Raises Funds For Heart Research

WASHINGTON (JCHAYWARD.COM) — Over 1200 people attended the 65th Annual “An Affair of the Heart,” luncheon and fashion show benefitting heart research and education at the beautiful Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, in D.C. on Monday.

WUSA9′s Anita Brikman was also in attendance rocking ‘red’ for the cause.

The luncheon and fashion show, presented by the Women’s Board of the American Heart Association Greater Washington Region, is the oldest continuous fundraising event of any nationally recognized non-profit charity in D.C., and has funded 34 research grants totaling over two million dollars since 2004.

“Our primary mission is to raise funds for lifesaving heart research, the number-one killer among women, and to raise awareness of cardiovascular health issues among women,” explained the Women’s Board Chairman, Darby Gingery.

The Fashion Show from Bloomingdales at Chevy Chase featured bright colors and classic styles from MaxMara’s Spring collection, and was absolutely beautiful. The styles looked appropriate for every age and any body type.

In conjunction with heart disease awareness month taking place throughout February, MaxMara will participate in a charity partnership with the American Heart Association where 10 percent of its purchases at Chevy Chase Bloomingdales will go to heart research.
